The Via de la Plata is a pilgrimage route, starting in Sevilla (Seville) and ending in Astorga.

Pilgrims have the option at Granja de Moreruela of heading towards Santiago de Compostela on the Camino Sanabrés.

I have walked the Via de la Plata from Sevilla to Astorga and, for me, it is the most spiritual of all the camino walks that I have undertaken.

Do be mindful that not so many pilgrims walk this camino – if you are choosing your first camino, I would recommend, instead, the Camino Francés.

The best times in the year to walk the Via de la Plata are in the spring and autumn.
